Dissertation Abstract
To acquaint Pakistani school children with the knowledge and understanding of the Fresco Painting, our cultural heritage, with cultural relevance. The study investigates the significance of the Fresco Painting and explores the possibilities of safeguarding this cultural heritage and to introduce it in the art curriculum at the secondary level. Culturally relevant curricula integrated across the subjects is suggested. The study is a composite of comparative analysis and action research in qualitative research method. At the end of the study, it is articulated that by securing an important space for Fresco Painting in Pakistani school curricula several other heritage connected themes may receive due importance. This is in accordance to UNESCO’s guidelines to safeguard heritage for the future generations and to provide them with an awareness of their ICH, the inclusion in the curricula is also a step toward highlighting the issue of taking precautionary measures being taken in the context of preservation of the heritage in Pakistan and the other countries.
