THE INTEGRATION OF CIVIC EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS AT SCHOOL LEVEL TO SERVE THE CAUSE OF PROMOTING CIVIC ENVIRONMENTALISM IN PAKISTAN

Art is an indigenous form for the human soul and can be instrumental to bring a change in society in a very subtle and creative way. The aim of this paper is to explore how art education can provide a learning core for developing civic education to raise awareness about the environmental challenges faced by Pakistani society. It further explores a potential solution of the problem that uses art to upcycle waste materials, useless or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality to give them a new lease of life for better environmental value. The epitome of this study explores the implications for defining the goals of art education and civic awareness by formulating educational programs, particularly in relation to positioning, narratives, and efficacy. As an emergent democracy and as a society in transition the nation needs to follow the solution for changing perspectives to address the environmental issues faced today.
