HOW CAN WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING BE APPLIED TO THE VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN CURRICULUM OF BNU-SVAD TO PREPARE STUDENTS TO MEET NEW CHALLENGES IN CREATIVE INDUSTRIES?

There are many existing models of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) that have already been discovered and implemented in the higher education institutes around the world and have shown promising results. However, the WIL strategies and research available cannot be implemented in the design institutions of Pakistan because of differences in cultural and social context and to fit the goals and objectives of a design curriculum of Pakistan. Therefore, the research intends to bridge the gaps between the students and the design industry of Pakistan through work-integration during graduate studies. The aim of the research is to explore and devise different strategies of WIL integration in the curriculum of the Visual Communication Design (VCD) department of Beaconhouse National University (BNU) Lahore, Pakistan. The research devises a model WIL curriculum in the form of a course outline. It addresses various issues that may rise during its implementation as well as reflections of the researcher have been discussed in the research paper.
