Dissertation Abstract
The purpose of this study was to discover the career challenges faced by women visual artists after graduation from art schools in Lahore. This research explores those elements which female graduates looked to raise their profession as visual artists. Sample was made up of six women artists from three different art institutions. Results indicate the female visual artists confronted different challenges as compared to male in terms of social, economical, religious family restraints, wage discrimination and gender bias in careers. The study shows that all females face same challenges. In art field they face less respect and targeted for religiously restraint and more gender biases. Due to this reason a lot of female after graduating doesn’t proceed with their career. They spend their life being restricted at home. Even though they are facing financial crisis they are not supposed to leave their house for work.
